We couldn’t be happier to announce that Noah Van Sciver’s Blammo #6 – published by Kilgore Books & Comics – has been nominated for a 2010 Ignatz Award. Woo-hoo!
So, if you’re going to SPX in MD on 9/11-12, please cast a vote for dear old Noah.
For those keeping track at home, this makes our record of ‘impressively nominated comics’ a whopping 100%. Beat THAT Drawn and Quarterly!
If you don’t know, the Ignatz Awards are a pretty big deal in the indie comic scene. Noah’s been nominated in the ‘Outstanding Comic’ category – past winners have included Jordan Crane (2009), Adrian Tomine (2007), Ivan Brunetti (2006), Kevin Huizenga (2005), Dan Clowes (1997, 2002, 2004), and Chris Ware (1998, 2000).
Further nominees include Seth, Gabrielle Bell, Charles Burns, Pekar, Sacco, and the list just goes on and on. As Noah says, ‘It’s an honor just to be nominated’, but here at Kigore, we don’t believe in honor. Oh wait, that’s not quite right.
We’re pulling out all the stops to help Noah get a win – so if you’re going to SPX, let us know!
