The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle – Haruki Murakami: Murakami is one of those guys I really WANT to read everything by, and want to love every word off. I’ve read Sputnik Sweetheart, most of Norwegian Wood, parts of What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, and a little from After the Quake. His writing is beautiful, and his stories are interesting, but they don’t always GRAB me the way I think they should. But I’ll keep trying, dammit! 

Midnight’s Children – Salmon Rushdie: Embarrassed I’ve never read this. Have gotten about ten pages in and really like it. Rumor has it, it will expand my vocabulary. We’ll see. 

Memories, Dreams, and Reflections – Carl Jung: I’ve never really read Jung, but John Porcellino was in earlier today and said, ‘you should read this book’, so I think I will. 

Sound and the Fury – William Faulkner: I read 1/2 of this years ago, but always act like I read the whole thing. It’s time to own up. 

A Confederacy of Dunces – John Kennedy Toole: This book has ALWAYS been recommended to me by Phishheads who don’t actually like to read and who love Tom Robbins, so I’ve always avoided it. But, it’s the book club book this month, so I’m giving it a shot. Or saying I am. 

Something else by Robert Heinlein & something else by Philip K. Dick: If only to make Luke happy, and to be able to converse better with our science fiction readers.
