Here at Kilgore Books and Comics we love doing events with local writers and cartoonists. We’ve started our own ‘Second Friday’ series of events. The second Friday of each month, stop on by for cheap coffee for a quarter, and some good times. Some months we’ll have bands, some signings, some workshops. Who knows! See below for our schedule of upcoming events.
JANUARY SECOND FRIDAY, 1/14: Join Denver’s mightiest new force ‘Fingers of the Sun’ for an acoustic set and cheap-ass coffee. Event is free, all ages, and will start at 6pm.

Friday, July 14, 6pm: Denver writer Jason Heller releases chapbook, reads fromSybil’s Garage with Vylar Kaftan (California) and Sean Markey (Utah)
Sat. July 11: Brian Polk and the folks from ‘Yellow Rake’ zine will be releasing their newest issue. Event starts at 6:30PM. This event is being postponed while Brian fully wraps up the ‘rake. We’ll keep you posted!

Saturday, November 22nd: Denver cartoonist and Xeric award winner Felix Tannenbaum will be discussing and signing ‘Chronicles of Some Made’. Rachel Pollard and Dormir will kick off the event at Wax Trax at 6pm, with Felix at KBC afterwards.
Satruday, November 15th: Brian Polk, author of ‘Turning Failure into Ideology’ will be reading from and discussing his book. Festivities begin at 6!
Satruday, October 18th: BLAMMO! #2 release party with Denver cartoonist & all around idiot savant Noah Van Sciver. Noah’s work appears in the Westword each week, and is in forthcoming issues of Mineshaft and The Comics Journal. Get him to sign stuff before it gets outrageously expensive on eBay.
Sunday, October 12th: Josiah is releasing his newest chapbook, following up ‘Zag Double Feature’ and ‘Zag Triple Feature’. Bands will kick off at 4pm at Wax Trax, follwed by a Q&A between Josiah and Kilgore’s own Luke Janes.
Saturday, September 27th: Gut #11 release party. Event starts at Wax Trax at 6PM with music from Rachael Pollard and Dave Delecriox, followed by Gut style celebration at Kilgore Books & Comics with editor Zach Kopp.
Saturday, September 20th: Come celebrate Wax Trax’s 30th Anniversary Extravaganza! Bands! Records! CDs! And pick up some books while you’re at it 
July 19th, 2008: Kilgore Books and Comics is pleased as punch to bring John Porcellino into the shop for a signing of his new work, ‘Thoreau at Walden’. The event will kick off with music and fun time over at the Wax Trax CD shop (southwest corner of 13th and Washington) from 5-7PM. After that, John will be signing copies of his new book at Kilgore’s from 7-8PM.
